Susan Stepelton-Behnke is co-owner of Universal Spirit Yoga with her daughter Stacey Vann, whom founded Universal Spirit Yoga in 1998. Susan attended yoga classes starting in 1998, and took a 200-hour Spontaneous Yoga teacher-training course taught by Master Teacher Swami Satyanand in the summer of 2003. Susan followed up with assisting another 200-hour Spontaneous Yoga teacher training in the fall of 2006 at USY. In January of 2007, Susan traveled to India for the first time and studied at the Life Mission ashram in Malav. Susan had the great fortune of meeting many wonderful people from around the world and received discourses from Swami Rajarshi Muni during her stay. The highlight of her trip included the inauguration of Sarvadharm Prarthana Hall, the inauguration of the Yoga Archives and Gallery along with a long waited book release of “Classical Hatha Yoga” written by Swami Rajarshi Muni. Susan also received Level 1 certification from the Lakulish Institute of Yoga during an event held on the weekend of the Inauguration. In 2009, Susan returned to India where she returned to the Life Mission ashrams for further discourse with Swami Rajarishi Muni and Swami Satyanand. To expand her knowledge of the complementary healing arts, she attended certification courses in Reiki I & II, Reflexology, Young Living Essential Oil Raindrop Technique, and Thai Yoga Bodywork. Currently, Susan is a practicing holistic minister and certified clinical aromatherapist offering blessings, essential oil education and consultations. Susan’s greatest service is managing Universal Spirit Yoga with the help of her daughter Stacey. Susan enjoys spending time with her husband Glenn and traveling to see her daughters and grandchildren in Florida and California. Susan loves to create beautiful art, especially stained glass, painting, woodworking, sewing, and jewelry making.
